In downtown Yangon, be prepared to walk through rows and rows of food stalls along the sidewalk. If you are willing to turn a blind eye to the flies hovering around your meal, some of the best street food in Yangon can be found at temporary carts set up by vendors each morning.
Grilled Skewers
Storefronts display skewers of meat, seafood, vegetables, and fish ready to be rushed back into the kitchen where they are grilled over intense flames. Grab a plastic basket, fill it with raw skewers, and wait your turn.

Burmese Style Pancakes (Bein Mont)
These Burmese style pancakes are favored by many tourists. The savory pancake contains chives and chickpeas, while the sweet version is a glutinous rice pancake prepared with fresh coconut slices, peanut, slivered almonds, and topped with white poppy seeds.

Deep-fried stuff
The Burmese are obsessed with deep-frying foods in oil. The items that can be deep-fried are also limitless, to name a few… samosas, spring rolls, savory fritters, sweets, breads. One deep-fried dish particularly worth seeking out is buthi kyaw, battered and deep-fried chunks of gourd. Deep fried crab and prawns (shown below) are also commonly seen.
