I’m on the edge, the edge…

I was searching all over Pinterest for a place to visit during my extra day in UK and the White Cliffs of Dover came across my screen several times.   The pictures online all looked amazing, but when I got there to see it in person.. hmm.. I guess I was slightly disappointed.

The view itself was pretty awesome, the White Cliffs of Dover reaches up to 300 feet in height and stretches for 10 miles to the east and west of the town of Dover.  We came on a clear day so we were able to see France from where we were standing.  However, I guess the view would have been much better if seen from the sea, rather than by land.

We had a nice relaxing walk along the cliff, however, it was really windy and cold.  Luckily, there was a lighthouse nearby that served hot tea and light snacks.

There are absolutely no boundaries to protect you from the cliffs, so don’t get too close to the hazardously crumbly edge.

The chalk consists of sea shell fragments and is soft, fine grained, and streaked with black flint.
